Every year, the Kelley & Canterbury Curiosity Scholarship invites Alaska students to share their stories, their challenges, and their hopes for the future. The theme is simple: curiosity and courage. Two qualities that define strong leaders, thoughtful citizens, and the next generation of professionals who will shape our state.
Some of the most inspiring young Alaskans we have met came through this scholarship program. Many are first generation college students. Some have faced hardships most adults never will. Others discovered their passion for justice, advocacy, or community service right here at home.
Their potential is enormous.
And supporting them is one of our greatest honors.
Why the Scholarship Matters
College is expensive. Opportunity is not always equal.
Sometimes all a young person needs is someone who believes in them, someone who says, “You can do this.”
A small scholarship can make a big difference.
Not just financially, but emotionally.
We once received a message from a past applicant who said the process helped her find her confidence. She learned how to tell her story and discovered that her experiences mattered. That is the impact of encouragement.
Encourage Someone to Apply
If you know a student with resilience, creativity, or curiosity, share this opportunity with them. Whether they pursue law, public service, business, healthcare, or any field that strengthens our communities, we want to help them take that step.
