Legal Assistant/Paralegal – Kelley & Canterbury
Kelley & Canterbury, a long-standing boutique personal injury law firm that seeks a motivated, detail-oriented legal paraprofessional to join our team. We are dedicated to outstanding advocacy and compassionate service, and every team member plays a meaningful role in supporting our clients.
This position directly supports attorneys, manages cases, ensures clients receive timely, professional attention, keeps the attorneys prepared, cases organized, and must possess strong communication skills to interact with clients, courts, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Litigation Support: Draft, edit, file, and proofread legal documents; maintain calendars; assist with discovery, case management, and trial preparation.
- Calendaring & Scheduling: Track court deadlines, hearings, depositions, and meetings; confirm appointments.
- Communication: Serve as a professional point of contact with clients, opposing counsel, courts, medical providers, insurers, and vendors; provide client updates and intake support.
- Internal Coordination: Communicate with attorneys (including when remote); plan and prioritize daily tasks independently while keeping the office running smoothly.
- File & Office Organization: Maintain accurate electronic/paper files; support office operations including reception, scheduling, and upkeep.
- Other Support: Ensure confidentiality; notary preferred or willingness to obtain.
Qualifications
- Experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary preferred (personal injury/litigation a plus).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professionalism, reliability, and initiative.
Position Details
- Hours: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime.
- Salary is commensurate with experience and ability ranges from $22/hr.-30, DOE.
- Benefits: Paid holidays/time off; retirement after one year.
